Install Wow Addons Without Curse 4,7/5 5212 reviews
Is there a way to use add ons without using the curse client to do it? I used it on my old computer and had more Trojans than a gas station bathroom!! I wont use it again so please refrain yourself from saying you used it for years as I really don't care.

If you use CurseClient or Minion it will just install. Else Download the ZIp. It will contain three folders. Extract all three to c: path to World of Warcraft Interface Addons. You should then have c: path to World of Warcraft Interface Addons GS-Core c: path to World of Warcraft Interface Addons GS-DraikMacros.

The TL;DR version is:
1. Make sure you're not in game. Exit the client if it's running.
2. Download the zip file from curse.
3. Extract the zip file to InterfaceAddOns
4. Start up the game.
If you're on Windows Vista/7/8 and WoW is in Program Files (x86 only?), the tricky part is finding the virtual folder for the right location of InterfaceAddOns. If you click 'Advanced Troubleshooting' here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/resetting-the-world-of-warcraft-user-interface it will tell you how to find that folder. (The instructions are how to delete/reset your UI so it's kind of out of context but it's a useful explanation)
Also if you're just upgrading an addon you already have, you can usually (not always) do it while in game. Just /reload after you've extracted the addon.
Also of note, if you got the Curse client from Curse.com, you didn't get the trojans/malware from the Curse client.
If you got it from somewhere else, then it is possible, but that wouldn't be the fault of the curse.come folks.

The trojans came from curse.com, not the client? That would actually be a different issue than I understand you had, so my apologies if that is the case.
I don't know anything about ads. I've been using adblock plus for some years. I would actually recommend everyone do the same - or some adblocker, if you do not prefer adblock plus. I whitelist certain websites that I like, and I ignore the ads everywhere else. I install an adblocker on the computer of everyone who works for me, everyone in my family, etc. Most websites will ban ads that push malware, but stuff sometimes sneaks through and affects some portion of their audience before they can be banned.
I do know that curse works pretty hard at blocking malware. They aren't going to make any money if they drive off the folks who download files from their site (and the same goes with the client, of course). I expect they pay actual money to ensure that the files uploaded to their site are malware free, for example.
Well you can remain afraid of Curse.com, but its extremely unlikely Trojans come from that website. Avoiding the website or client won't eliminate the source of your problems. If your system became that compromised by malicious code, then you have a significantly inadequate security software, a background program bypassing your system security or someone using the computer is not careful about the what they browse or execute.

Wow 7.2 Addons

Doesn't the curse client have ads in it too? I've never used it but I assumed it has some ads while it's updating/checking addons before it launches WoW.
OP, if you use Windows 7, drag your AddOns folder to your favorites folder (in windows file manager--not your browser favorites) and it'll take 10 seconds tops to install an addon. Download, open zip, drag folder within zip to addons folder at favorites, done.
wowinterface.com is an alternative to curse (better dev community too), but they're both ad supported which is kinda necessary for a free service.
I figured it out. Youtube is very helpful. I avoid curse.com and their client like the plague. Its malware central. wowinterface.com is where I went. Thanks for the help guys.

I use curse quite constantly, and I have never once had a problem. Once during Wrath I had a keylogger from someplace. But not since.
If they were coming from curse, many people would be reporting it. You're getting your trojans from somewhere else.
